London-based experiential food designers Bompas and Parr have collaborated with Nakamura.ke to produce a mobile kitchen of glow in the dark food and drink. The pop-up opened in Atlanta and will travel to LA, London, New York, Seoul, and Tokyo later this year.
The collaboration between Bompas & Parr and Nakamura.ke was mainly geared towards figuring out actually how to make safe-to-consume luminescent food and drink. This would not be the first time that Bompas and Parr used bioluminescent biotechnology in their increasingly ambitious food design. A few years ago, they also made luminescent ice cream. And, according to their Future of Food 2019 report, they predict that the CRISPR technology that enables the making of bioluminescent drinks will be a major emerging trend in the coming years.
